Eucharistic Roots: A Psychoanalytic Examination of the Lordís Table

The Lordís Table, also known as Communion and Eucharist, has been and continues to be a central celebration in the life of the Christian community. Throughout the ages various interpretations of this event have rooted varying denominational loyalties. This work explores the ritual of the table through the theology of Paul Tillich, the psychopathological understandings of personality of Dr. Theodore Millon, and the structural psychoanalysis and integrative psychotherapy theory of Dr. Robert Moore. The text encourages discernment towards optimized living by raising awareness of the psychoanalytic foundations that can be understood to inform this sacrament across the Christian world.
